Open interest is distinct from volume: volume counts how many contracts are traded in a session, while open interest counts how many remain open at the end of the day. Rising RINF options open interest alongside rising volume suggests new positions are being built, while falling open interest signals positions are being closed. Heavy open interest at specific strikes often acts as a magnet near expiration and can hint at where dealers and large traders expect ProShares Inflation Expectations ETF to settle.
Under normal circumstances, the fund will invest at least 80% of its total assets in component securities of the index. The index tracks the performance of (i) long position in the most recently issued 30-year Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities ("TIPS") and (ii) duration-adjusted short position in U.S. Treasury bonds of, in aggregate, approximate equivalent duration dollars to the TIPS. The fund is non-diversified.
