Running TBLU covered calls helps you generate consistent income from Tortoise Global Water ETF's shares you already own, turning a long stock position into a yield-producing asset. A covered call on Tortoise Global Water ETF involves holding the underlying stock and selling a call option against it, collecting premium in exchange for capping upside at the strike price. Use our scanner to find the best TBLU covered calls in real time and filter for the strikes, expiries, and premiums that fit your strategy.

A covered call is one of the most widely used options strategies because it pairs limited risk with a clear income profile: if TBLU stays below the strike at expiration, you keep the premium and the shares; if it rises above, you deliver the stock at the strike and still pocket the premium. Selling TBLU covered calls works best when implied volatility is elevated, since richer premiums improve the risk-reward. Key inputs to evaluate include strike selection relative to delta, days to expiration, annualized return, and the probability of assignment — all of which determine whether a given Tortoise Global Water ETF covered call is worth writing.

TBLU offers exposure to developed-market all-cap water companies. The fund selects firms that derive at least 40% of gross revenues from either water infrastructure or water equipment and/or services. Water infrastructure companies are those that provide public water distribution, engineering, construction or consulting. Water equipment companies are those who provide water pipes, valves, pumps or water efficiency products such as filtration, treatment, and testing of water. Service companies provide technologies that facilitate management of water distribution, usage, treatment, and irrigation.

The resulting portfolio includes a few dozen names, heavily weighted towards the US. Prior to June 5, 2018, the fund tracked the Tortoise Water Index, providing exposure to water companies in North America. Prior to the merger with Ecofin on Aug. 21, 2020, the fund name was Tortoise Global Water ESG Fund and traded under the ticker: TBLU. After the merger, the fund name changed to Ecofin Global Water ESG Fund and traded under the ticker: EBLU. On September 17, 2024, the fund name and ticker reverted to Tortoise Global Water ESG Fund and TBLU, respectively.

Income-focused investors, long-term TBLU holders, and systematic premium sellers all face the same challenge: finding the covered call strike and expiry that balances yield against the risk of being called away. Our scanner ranks covered calls by annualized return, downside protection, and probability of profit, so selling TBLU covered calls becomes a measured decision instead of a guess. Stop eyeballing the chain — let the best Tortoise Global Water ETF covered calls come to you, already filtered for the metrics that matter.
